Transfer Experience

Hey! I'm a prospective transfer student thinking about transferring mostly because I'm fairly dissatisfied with the social life at my current institute. I just found out that I was accepted to WashU and while I'm so excited about this, I'm still a bit apprehensive about transferring. I was wondering if I could get some feedback on the overall transfer experience here. How easy is it to make friends transferring and fitting in socially? Am I likely to get housing on campus as a transfer? Any responses and experiences would be so greatly appreciated! Thanks so much

I am a parent of a current senior who transferred at the start of his sophomore year. It was the best decision he ever made. He got housing in the dorm with other sophomores, made great friends (he joined a frat but it’s not a necessity to meet people), and has had a wonderful college experience. All that I can say is “do it”. Also visit, if you can, to get a feeling for yourself. And get in touch with a transfer advisor at Wash U so you can get all of your questions answered. His was wonderful.

Yo Cali, I’m transferring to Wash U this fall. We can go through this together, it’s no biggie

yea, same here… going to transfer, but is wondering about the social life over there

Can you successful transfers provide any details of how you were able to transfer in? Were your initial stats outstanding? Really high gpa? I am on the waitlist right now and, if I don’t get in this fall, will definitely try to transfer for spring 2011. Can you give advice and tips on transferring?

hey you guys have already heard back? I am still waiting on my decision, but I submitted days before dead line ha

yea i got into in late march, did you apply for financial aid?

yeah I just got my decision, denied, but wasn’t really expecting to get in anyways. No I did not.
