Transfer -fall 09

oyy now that the apps are in, who’s super ancy/nervous/excited/ kinda angry that i’ll have to put deposits down on the other schools i got into just in case?

^^ me to all of the above

MEEEEEEE, do you know where/when we can check to see if all our submitted materials (transcripts etc) have arrived at barnard?

on the site, it said “track your application”, which was followed by a “you’ll get your login informations in about 2 weeks”

so i hope soon hahaha

Thank you for starting this thread!

I’m am so nervous and I must have spend $400 on this one application–I will be so hurt if I don’t get get in.

I’m a hopeful transfer from a community college in NYC–anyone else from a community college?

One thing I know for sure, if they only go by SAT scores, then I’m out. I have some pretty substantial… we’ll call them “perks” and hopefully that will outweigh the SATs.

$400!!! what application were YOU using? or maybe im just ■■■■■■■■ and paid some random 55 dollars for no reason haha

but yeah im from a CC in new jersey. lol i too hope they dont go by SATs, and if they look well on my “perks”, we might be in good shapes,

but i also applied to cornell, and they said they barely look at your SATs , cause those are only a 6 month indicator of your performance… ive been at CC for 2 years, so hopefully they dont look at my SATs, since they wont mean much anymore

At the info session the lady said the committee looks at your app holistically, taking everything into account. My worry though is that although I had a 3.8 first semester, my second semester teachers sent in more Bs than As in their mid year reports… how do your grades compare? Im having a hard time judging if my college grades are good or not enough for transfer

well my gpa kinda sank to a 3.667… but its because i took an honors bio lab class worth 4 credits and got a B in it… and since im anything but a Bio major, im hoping they notice that and dont hold it against me, other wise my gpa would be in the 3.8s… and as far as the midterm reports go, i think they just want to see youre not getting Cs and Ds ya know?

i dunno… im so over the whole applying fiasco now that its done with and theres nothing i can change…

I am so glad the application fiasco is over too … I suddenly have time to myself. But waiting is nearly killing me.

Is anyone applying to any other women’s colleges?

hey!
thought I would join you guys since I also applied as a transfer :)

so on Thursday, I got this big white envelope and on the front it said Barnard Admissions and I started freaking and wondering if it was some super early acceptance (i know it doesn’t come out until April 20th) but no it was just information about the school lol

and I am not applying to any other women’s colleges. I just applied to University of Maryland and USC

wait, the early acceptances come out april 20th? or all the acceptances come out april 20th?

i only applied to cornell, TCNJ, and barnard… got into TCNJ, waiting on cornell… should hear in about two weeks…

I’m also hoping to transfer…I’m coming from Emory University. Where is everyone else coming from?

idumea: out of curiosity, why are you transferring from Emory?

I was waitlisted at Barnard and will be attending Emory. If I am not admitted from the waitlist, I, too will try to transfer from Emory to Barnard.

acceptances can come any time from April 20th-May 15th

transferring from vanderbilt here! (obv from my username)

called the admissions office last week and they said they’ll start notifying by april 20. FAST AS HELL. hoping for good news. less than stellar gpa at vanderbilt though, started out as an engineering major. WRONG choice. :-(

they also said about 500 girls applied and about 80 will be offered acceptance. sighs

Vandy to Barnard seems weird . Did you app. elsewhere also?

Hopefully going from Miami to Barnard. I guess I have to find religion and start praying.

Amen…

80 out of 500??? That just ruined my day!
Did any of you guys get an e-mail from Barnard (not common app) that they have your application? I haven’t heard word from them at all, and they said to call back in a few days. Should I be concerned or are there others in my position?
Good luck to all of you!

I’ve never heard anything from them, nor have I received my pin number. I called last week and the woman said that they should be sent out April 15th… Guess not.

Wow, a 16% acceptance rate is so out of character for Barnard… I thought it hovered around 29% normally. Crap.
