Transfer -fall 09

Ah, congratulations! Stats? And when did you submit your application? Are you going to enroll?

congrats to all of you! this wait is a killer

waitlisted :[
any suggestions?

Is Barnard your first choice? If so, send in a brief cover letter saying so. Honestly, if Barnard’s your first choice, I hope you would’ve done that already when sending in your application, but it still can’t hurt to do it a second time. Just make sure they know you’re interested and if they do accept you later, that you’re 100% going to enroll.

You can also try to save a few people’s lives and get your name onto front page news. That’s a bit less likely though.

I submitted my application around March 9. It was my first choice so I’m definitely enrolling. My stats were pretty typical for Colgate - 1360/2150 i think, came from a strong prep school – and i worked hard on my essays. Good luck to everyone else!

idumea, I’m sorry to hear that. Don’t give up hope yet, though! What were your stats?

It seems pretty clear that they haven’t hit the later applications yet. I haven’t heard any rejections yet… which could be either good or bad for the rest of us. In any case, I wish you all the best of luck.

i was just thinking the same thing about no rejections being sent out yet that we’ve heard of which is probably bad luck for me in my mind… i didnt even know transfers could be waitlisted since its so late in the year

I applied on the last possible day (March 31?).
I go to Emory, my GPA is 3.53, HS GPA 3.75/4.45. SAT:1920 ACT:28
Very strong extracurriculars/volunteer involvement both in HS and college.
Strong essays, not sure about my letter of rec…probably strong.

I felt pretty optimistic about Barnard, which is the sad part. I know it isn’t a rejection, but it sure feels like one.

hopefully the day you apply doesnt influence anything since I applied on the last day possible…

I think the day you apply only affects when your application is reviewed, and thus when you receive your decision. Though it is odd that we haven’t seen any rejections so far… Although, we do have to recognize that people on CC are usually the most dedicated and often the most qualified.
idumea, I’m sure everything will work out for the best. I hate when people say that, but I think it’s generally true. Good luck.

yeah the day you send in your stuff only affects how soon you hear back… i applied on the 1st, so i wont hear back for another week probably… does anyone know if anythings done by email? or is it all physical letters…?

Since I’m an American studying in Europe and I received my letter here in Switzerland, I dont think they do it by email.

They send nothing via email, it’s all via postal mail. I called Admissions today, and they told me they sent out a big batch of letters last weekend and they’re sending out another (I think the rest of them) this weekend - since I didn’t send my application in until the last day, I’m assuming I’ll be getting my letter next Monday/Tuesday. Eek! Good luck everyone.

yeah broskis

Hey!Congrts to you all !
I’m still waiting for the mail!
I am a Chinese transfer ~ I’m dying to attend Barnard~!!!
Have you received any interview invitations during application? I had a phone interview around 23rd April… it’s strange because interview might not be a part of Barnard transfer application.

just got in
Rising senior at decent liberal arts college (Elon)
3.7 after three semesters
3.9 high school gpa
2000 sats
Studying abroad at top notch german university at the moment
My recs were probably pretty generic for the most part
I think my essays were pretty impressive.
I worked for Hillary Clinton in three states last year and I think that was probably what helped me the most. Expounded upon that a lot in essays. Really impressive resume which sort of attested to the goals I said Id like to achieve at Barnard.
Applied once before.

I think I was a bit of a reach as my high school grades arent that impressive, but I tried to qualify them in my essays and attest to my growth as a student/woman.

Best of luck, Im sure youll all be hearing sooning since I heard today all the way in Germany!

Best friend was rejected last week; I’m still waiting to hear. Not sure of her earlier stats, but she had a 3.8 GPA at college and wasn’t active extracurricularly at all.

I’m getting kind of conflicted about whether or I’ll attend even if I get in, but I’d like to hear. Good luck to everyone!

For the record, Im actually a rising junior*

I would like to attend but I need to talk to my parents about it. I dont get any aid. It will not be an easy conversation to have from abroad.

just got rejected in the mail… boner killer… haha best of luck to everyone <333

Waitlisted:(
