Hey all, I'm currently a freshmen applying to transfer out of my current school (hopefully) and attend Florida State University for the Fall of 2010. I dread going to my current school & i absolutely loathe everything about it- except for a few select teachers & students. I also commute which is a huge downer (I live in NYC) & the price tag of my current university is about 40 grand a year- not worth it for a tier 3. I plan to declare my major as Economics (general). The semester is about to end & I'm a little bit nervous about grades and transferring. I dont know my current GPA but my grades should be as follows (if all everything goes as planned)

English - A
Public Myths - A
Macroeconomics - A-
Gender, race, class - A- / B+
Algebra - C- / D
University Seminar- Pass

I'm really worred about my grade in Algebra- Would it affect my chances severely? I'm a very good student. My College EC's are as follows:
1. Student Government : University Affairs Secretary
2. University Newspaper
3. Chinese Cultural Club
4. Americorps Member

I went to visit my boyfriend at FSU this past October (without the intention of ever transferring into the school) and i was completely blown away. I have never in my life seen a school that was so big and so pretty! (lol- I'm from NYC - so seeing a school this size rendered me completely speechless). Everyone- from the students to the staff, was so incredibly friendly and hospitable- Not to mention the school spirit! I got the chance to tour the campus (great guide!), meet the dean of social sciences, meet with the admissions officer and dine out with several staff members of the college of social sciences at the university center club (my bf worked at the deans office- so they picked me up from the airport & took me out to lunch & again for my birthday- the following monday i was there). The whole experience was amazing- everyone was so hospitable! I honestly felt like it was home (lol.. i even bought an I <3 FSU shirt).

At first i tried to push FSU out of my mind, because i didnt want the stigma of being "that girl" who transferred into her BFs college- but i cant stop thinking about the school! I can honestly say, even if my BF wasnt there- i would go to FSU in a heartbeat!

The admissions officer was very friendly as well, she told me not to worry too much as long as my GPA was above a 3.0. But reading these threads on CollegeConfidential's really got me worried. I plan on submitting 2 prof recs, resume and a short (250 words or less) statement in with my application. (Though, they said it wasnt necessary, i really think i would need it because of my grades). Do yu think this would be a good idea?

I sent a thank you email once i got home & i was told to call the admissions officer once i submitted my application so she can oversee everything.

FSU is my first & foremost choice in school. I would be so disappointed if i didnt get in.

I want completely honest answers- i do not want ANY sugarcoating (please).

What do you guys think my chances are?
(I originally wanted to transfer into the honors college- but realized my GPA wasnt all that great).
