@NerdyGirl hmmm maybe. Although there are probably instances of people still getting news early despite sending apps on the deadline? I sent my app and made sure I handed all supporting materials on the deadline, but I got my password for checking app materials really fast, like April 8th. On the contrary, yep, I’m part of the 2nd batch

i hope all of us on the waitlist are fortunate enough to receive a phone call from admissions soon with good news…sigh

I’m so nervous to find out! I sent my application March 2 So I’m a little surprised I haven’t heard yet…good luck to everyone and congrats to the lovely ladies that got accepted! :)

@sarahnour Aahh ok you applied really early!

I sent my application in March 3 or 4, and I did hear, so…its a crapshoot.

Oh yeah true… I guess that goes for every school in terms of transfer admissions… Comes in waves. I guess we should just be thankful that they were really specific about having 2 batches. Etyretyureudjhkjfd I am going nuts. Can not concentrate on Art History final. Bleehhhh

i actually submitted my app in January…

Were your recommendations and everything else sent in January too? Because if that were the case, you deserve a prize. Haha! Have you heard from the other girls who are also applying from Mt. Holyoke?

loll yes they were actually! And as for other girls applying from MHC, i dont really know if there are any…I assume its just me since MHC is a small school, I probably would have heard if anyone else was applying to Barnard from here…hmmm

We’ll all find out soon enough. Nothing more you can do about it now! BREATHE.
I’m pretty sure when you get your letter is no indicator of whether you got in or not/ how you were considered. As we saw there were EVERY type of decision in that ‘first batch’. Clearly no method to the madness.

Ohh hmm now I’m wondering who it was who said that she knew she was gonna be applying for transfer together with a bunch of other schoolmates. Anyhoo, eek! I know, I know, nothing for the rest of us to do now. Sighs

Wow, that was a lot of activity since my last post. Nerdygirl, I am so insanely jealous of you. I’ve always been waitlisted by the schools that I want to go to, and I never got off any of the waitlists. They were probably ranked or something, or maybe I didn’t send the letters quickly enough.

Anyway, I’ll call Barnard tomorrow and see if I can find out why I got rejected this time around. My stats are, from USC:
GPA: 3.67
SAT: 1450/2240
SAT II: 750 US History, 740 Math IIC
HS GPA: 88, Bronx High School of Science
College EC: Secretary, Spanish Club, Rock Climbing Club. Member, Tennis Club Team. Work/Study jobs (2), lots of volunteer work.
Ethnicity: Asian

I thought I had a fair chance, especially since I was waitlisted before, but I may have put my application together too hastily and submitted it too late (last day). In any case, I’m already brainstorming ideas for my gap year… if you guys want, you can follow me at [Independent Volunteer & Travel](http://www.indievolunteer.blogspot.com) and maybe I’ll get to meet some of you in person Fall 2011 in Barnard. I gotta keep up the positive thinking. Best of luck, girls.

Oh, and I’m an anthropology major. Barnard/Columbia has the best anthropology department in the nation; that’s another reason why I’m just not willing to go anywhere else. Sigh.

I’m really sorry, GD2008 I’m scared I might be put in the same situation, although my citizenship won’t allow me to take any years off at all. We eerily have the same stats, and this is also my 2nd transfer, although I never applied to Barnard from high school. Were your recs strong? What was your essay about and how were your supplement responses? Are you pushing through with taking a year off?

Also, your blog looks great! I wish you the best and hope you have a great year of learning experiences!

That’s amazing! You’re going to have such an amazing experience. When you reapply to Barnard you’ll have such amazing things to write about they’ll have no choice but to admit you!

a little frustrated- been trying to get in touch with ms dolan for the past two days to confirm she got my letter…said shed call back this morning and still haven’t heard. I dont want to be a pest and keep calling so i may let it be for a few days. :(

Yeah they’re probably preparing for tomorrow’s mailing. I wouldn’t either if you feel that it might pester them… They all seem really nice and approachable but they might take into account instances like that. I kept asking Niki Barron after she gave an info sesh redundant questions because of nervousness and I was only one of two transfer people there among a sea of high school juniors… I hope that didn’t spell out freak hahaha! I need to hold back from calling too lol. Sitting back and waiting for Thursday’s mail…

I hope you get a call back soon

got a call back and here’s the info I received:

letters are customary, so do that if you’re waitlisted. any extra information isnt necessary, so don’t feel obligated to send extra recs or anything like that, but you can if you want.

Also: the june 15th ‘at the latest’ is kind of false. They sometimes extend the waitlist into the summer if there is still a chance of accepting students. They WILL notify us when the waitlist is closed.

Yeah last year it lasted way into July. The waitlist still had movement by then. Thread’s been pretty quiet today… But I guess there’s not much waiting left for the others. Thursday will hopefully introduce an influx of posts again…
