Hey, I’m considering applying for a midyear transfer but worried my stats are too low. Could some of you post your stats and the decision? There isn’t much info out there on transfer rates/ average stats so I’ve been really hoping I could get some advice if I have a shot!

Yeah, I’m “missing” dates on my checklist for Barnard: for “faculty recommendation” (which was sent a month ago, way before the common app) and an Sat II…

Did we have to send SAT IIs? I thought we didn’t?

Ugh, I just want the decision already! I want to be free of this tension!

Oh good to know! I was freaking out earlier because my high school transcript isn’t showing up as received and I thought they sent it weeks ago.

I don’t think they ask for SAT IIs. I think they’re just standard on that form but they don’t expect you to send them. I didn’t take any.

nyc2013, I will post my stats once I can tell you the decision!

@pinky

I just emailed them, wondering if I should ask for another rec to be sent. Whatta nightmare, huh? You should prob do the same about the transcript.

@nyc2013:

At the risk of embarrassing myself when I don’t get accepted:

I’m a sophomore at U of Miami, theatre/psy major (the psy isn’t on my transcript yet, which is ludicrous because I declared it months ago).

SAT: 700CR, 700M, 650W (and I’m a playwright, go figure.)

College gpa: 3.9+
EC: Theatre, theatre, a social cause group, theatre

High School gpa: 4.00 (Unweighted: 5.867)
99th percentile (1 out of 851, but it doesn’t say on my transcript)
National Hispanic Scholar
AP scholar with distinction
EC: Theatre competitions/awards
Blah, blah.

I need aid. Oodles of it.

Wish me luck.

hey everyone! int’l student applying for junior transfer into barnard’s architecture program here. applied for transfer last year with a 2.8 GPA from vanderbilt yet a strong application and got waitlisted. now reapplying for admission after completely revamping my academic records but at the parsons school of design… hope we all hear good news within the next two weeks! so so so nervous :-(

i heard housing is not guaranteed for transfer students.that makes me kind of nervous…do most students get housing though?

@transfer91: I’d like to find out more about this too. (If it’s any consolation, I’ve heard they have two floors in a dormitory reserved for transfers. This might be old news, though.)

hey, thank you!
overall my app is okay except I am terrible with languages. I keep getting all A’s then a bad grade in language and I’ve been really worried that one subject will keep me out despite all the other work/ EC’s/ volunteering I’ve done.
Also, do you think being eligible for one of the Barnard/ Columbia varsity sports teams would be a hook? I’ve been checking stats and I know I could walk on and start for one of the teams but idk if Barnard puts much weight on this…

Oh god it’s so nerveracking to wait for the decisions. I compulsively check my mailbox everyday haha. :-(

if we are admitted to Barnard, typically would we receive the big envelope and if we get a rejection letter it’ll be sent in a small envelope??

on Housing: last year, everyone who wanted housing got it. I’m pretty sure the lack of a guarantee is just in case there’s over-enrollment amongst the transfers, so there’s no reason to worry unless you receive your acceptance letter very late.

on envelopes: I don’t know what a rejection looks like, but an acceptance came in a nice folder/viewbook/thingy.

has anyone heard back yet??? im so nervous! when should we expect to get something in the mail? Will they send us an email when they mail out our letters?

Haven’t heard back yet either, I’m so nervous. I’m pretty sure they’re sending us snail mail, and idk if it’s true because some people heard back earlier than I did last year (but then again, maybe waitlistees don’t hear till after acceptances and rejections?) but I called Thursday to ask when/how, etc., and the lady told me that it’s still anytime between Apr15-May8 but we’ll all hear back/get snail mail all at the same time? I hope it’s this week and I hope it’s good news. :-(

I haven’t heard anything either, but I think you guys will get yours first anyway cause I’m overseas. Not knowing exactly when it will be here is almost worse than the wait itself. I started writing a ridiculous song about it to distract myself - if it takes any longer I’ll have a whole album. :P

me too… I can’t concentrate on anything else

Aghhh I know talk about not getting enough sleep or being able to think about other stuff… My life is pretty much on hold. :-(

Trying to think happy thoughts doesn’t even work on me. Please oh please let’s all hear back by this weekkkk :-(

I have a feeling it will be later this week. I could be totally wrong of course but for all our sakes I hope hope hope it comes before we’re too crazy to attend school at all next year, arrrgh!

I really wish they’d post our decisions online… this waiting for the mail thing is so stressful! It also doesn’t help that I feel like my decision could go either way… I have about a 3.5 GPA at a top 30 university. So nervous I’m glad this thread exists though, it’s helping a little with the worrying :)

im just so nervous because i have at least 5 people each day ask me about my decision. my parents and friends back in nyc are also becoming anxious. sigh

The anticipation is killing me, too, but I don’t think it’s prudent to expect the decisions this week. I think it’ll be another two weeks or so.

Barnard is my dream school! I’m sending everyone good vibes and hoping we will all get through the end of the semester at our current schools!
