Transfer Fall 2012 : Will I be rejected???

@NOVACKY
congrats! it must be the one of the best days in your life.

@Mehrenz

Thank you! You will hear back soon! I guess the admission office is now making their decisions for the applicants who do not complete Calculus requisites.

yeah…this is gonna be a long week for me…

You guys have a really nice thread going here, I appreciate the information on it. I was just wondering if I should put down my hopes of getting into Mccombs as a transfer since it seems those decisions have already been made (Really happy for you, Novacky!!). Here’s my info:
Current Institution: UH
GPA: 3.93(62 transferable hours)
Extracurricular: Two organization related to Accounting and Finance. I love both those one gets me networking with accounting professionals and the other allows me to explore financial analysis.
Indicators: I completed that before I graduated from high school through AP credits(but i didn’t send in those scores)
Essays: I would say I am not a bad writer but it was nothing special
Other: I am also a Texas resident, went in for a visit and loved the campus, hated the traffic
I did the calculation on past statistics for Mccombs coming from a four year university my changes are in the ball park of 8% based on averages from previous years. If i don’t get in I see it more useful to stay at my current institution therefore I put non degree seeker as my second choice. Thanks for any help you provide.

Thank you, Godly120.

I am pretty positive that the admission office will accept most applicants who keeps up high GPA. That’s what I was told by the admission branch office counselor when I visited them before I applied. He said my GPA was really good to be admitted, so you have stronger possibility of succeeding without a doubt. Everything will come right since you have higher GPA than mine.

Just for reference, my enrollment due date is May 14th. I don’t think this date means anything to us, but I want to share any information with you guys. After I was accepted, they notified me to do 5 things on MyStatus. Changing password, paying enrollment deposit e.t.c… And also, I saw the same advance warning of indicator courses like this…

(Any significant drop in your grade point average in the courses you take before enrolling at UT Austin may result in the withdrawal of the university’s offer of admission.)

They don’t refer to me specifically what grade they are not expecting. If I get any new information, I tell you.

Whoa, I didn’t expect a response today. Thanks so much. I need to look for those 5 things to show up to see if I’m accepted, nothing to the contrary has shown up so I am relieved.

If I do get in I’ll be sure to shoot you a message. In less than a week, the decision will be made if I’m a longhorn or not, it makes me so anxious. Good luck on transferring courses from your current institution that is always difficult/annoying.

Hi, guys, I want to transfer in 2012 Fall, and my status never changed during the whole month. My GPA is 3.43 and I applied McCombs and Mathematics. Do I have chance to get in?

I’m so exhausted and waiting for the May 1st. Hope they do not forget me… :-(

Guys,
Do you know if I fill some document saying that I am intend to enroll in an university, I can not deny this after? I need to accept the Indiana University offer until May 1st, I will only deny Indiana if UTexas rely their decision! Do you know anyone who cancelled an offer?
UTexas help me!!! give this decision ASAP!!!

I know what you mean I feel that I am qualified, but if I’m not I would prefer that they let me know as soon as possible so that I can live my life without UTA. :frowning: It sounds more dramatic than I intend but there are so man emotions to this process that I didn’t account for.

I am starting to wonder if I should just call to find out since there are only one to two more days left that they are open (Monday and Tuesday). I share your pain manquants. If it says on my status “*Indicator Courses: Business applicants must show completion of business indicator courses. Learn more about business indicator courses.” Does this mean that don’t know that my indicator courses are complete or is the generic of all business applicant?

Unfortunately for both you and I UTexas does not roam the threads of CollegeConfidential. I think your best course of action is to call and talk to a transfer admission counselor (512-475-7387 if you a undergraduate applicant) or I think their website has a chatting option.

If you tell Indiana you are going their Fall 2012 you better be going there. Other than the fact that it is probably unethical to lead Indiana on like that and then saying no, universities allocate certain funds and resources based on attendance so once you say you are coming, they get it so it’s kind of big deal to them so if you say you are going it will most likely have consequences either financial or legal.

i dont think it really affects them if you decide not to come…
you’ll probably have to pay some fine.

They most likely have PLENTY of people waiting to take that extra spot.

this is just my opinion though…

I mean how could they MAKE you attend their college?
the spot would just go to the next person on a waitlist or something

This is something you should just call and ask. Be very straightforward
Tell them you are waiting to hear back from your 1st choice college but if you do not get in you want to attend theirs.

called again today…still nothing

the lady knows me now basically
she said she has no idea why I havent had a decision yet
I’m still in the running for BME
She emphasized again how my gpa is around what they’re looking for and that BME is the most difficult to get into
apparently she was “informed” that my application would be decided by may 1st

Idk if she meant literally my application or what?

Hey guys, this is May 1st already but UT hasn’t announced anything new about their decision yet… Anyone else still waiting up to this date?

Here’s my status:

Current College: ACC

Current GPA: 3.86

Intended Major : Advertising (College of Communication)

Courses : 58 credit hours - lower division (all A’s except US History 2 and Art History 2)

Anything else useful : I’m an International Student with F-1 visa.

Okay first of all, WILL I GET IN??

My friends have got their decisions posted and I’m way too tired to check MyStatus every frickin’ 5 minutes or so! I called them yesterday and I hope they didn’t lie when they said “the latest will be tomorrow if not later today”.

Here’s what I have on MyStatus page:
“Attention: Your file is in review.
We’ve received all the items required to process your application. We’re currently reviewing your application for admission. Once a decision has been made the decision will be posted on this site. This will be your official notification. We will not mail a paper letter to you.”

@SONIAJR

Same here! i am also an international student now study in the U.S. I still haven’t receive anything from them! i really need to know the decision as soon as possible, since I will go back to my home country next week!!! I don’t know what to do. What office did you call yesterday?

@goodjoblyn Yeah I called again at 4.50pm right before they closed, and I’m pretty sure that I heard right, the guy on the phone said the decisions WILL be posted tonight. But I’d expect them to be here on Friday at the latest… What’s going on
Whoa why so soon? I’m going home in 2 weeks because of final exams and all that.

Seriously, I can’t stop checking MyStatus.
