I'm currently a freshman at Stonehill College in MA, and I hate it. Everything I thought I wanted in a college, small size, suburban setting, I cannot stand. So I'm trying to transfer to a city school, preferrably in Boston.
My two top choices are Northeastern University and Suffolk University. However, my concern is getting good financial aid for them. Does anyone know what kind of finances are available for transfers at either one of these schools, or has anyone transferred to either one that can personally attest to the transfer process there?
My HS GPA was a 3.76 which got me $10,000 at Stonehill. My current GPA is around a 3.7 as well, but it's "in progress."

My other question is, would either of the universities above look down on my application or somehow disregard it if I only stayed at Stonehill for one semester? I am planning on going home for the spring semester and commuting to a state college so that I can work and save lots of $$ (tuition difference) to put down on a city school for Fall 2011.

Financial aid is usually worse for transfers than it is for first years, so you will probably want a back up plan if these two schools don’t work out.

They are both VERY expensive schools and you would have to really think about if it is worth the investment. Personally I attended Suffolk my first year and ended up transferring out because the name, education, and location was nowhere near justified the amount it cost to attend. I had a very low EFC code and still had to take out an additional $20,000 in loans to attend. So it’s really up to you to decide if the investment is worth it or not.

my advise is that your going to want to be applying to BU and NE if you want the larger school/big city atmosphere. by reading what you said about Stonehill i would advise you not to apply to Suffolk because it may be quite similar what you didn’t like at Stonehill.
