I'm planning on applying as a transfer to GWU for the fall of 2015. Does anyone know if financial aid is awarded to transfer students? There's really no way I could go without a good finaid package. Thanks!

Yes, it’s absolutely available! I was a transfer and received a good financial aid package. However, it did take some calling/bugging to get it where I needed it to be. My initial package consisted of scholarships and Stafford loans, leaving about an addition $15K for my to have to pick-up somehow. Long story short, I intended to do personal loans (in hindsight, that was a really bad idea and would never advocate for them) but the loan app was denied three weeks into school. After pleading with the financial aid office (telling them I’d have to withdraw if I couldn’t get more help) they “found” an additional $15K in scholarships they could give me.

I only provided my story as an example, so don’t expect the same that I received. Just know that there’s always more available than what they initially offer you, so if you can make a compelling case ask for more. All situations are different :)
