Transfer for 2010-2011 Academic year

I did not have the good fortune of making it into Harvard for this upcoming fall, but I was able to get into Duke. I wanted to know what kind of statistics I would need to transfer in two years time from a school like Duke. I understand that transfers aren't accepted for two years, but keep in mind I will be applying the first year they are resurrected. Thanks.

Harvard didn't admit any transfer student this year (fall 2008 entry) and has announced it won't admit any next year (fall 2009 entry). It's not at all sure that there will be a chance to transfer into Harvard for the 2010-2011 school year. There may not be a resurrection after this death. You will need AWESOME statistics and awesome everything to have much chance to transfer at all, if there ever is a transfer admission program again, because lots of other people will have your idea too.

don't go in to Duke with the attitude that you want to transfer out. Duke is a GREAT school, and you may end up absolutely loving it. I've seen this story again and again with my HS friends...they go to 3d or 4th choice school expecting to dislike it, and end up having a fantastic time and forgetting that they didn't get into their "dream school"...and they all say, "well gee, if I had to do it all over again (insert current school here) would totally have been my first choice after all!

I'm not looking to transfer just because I want to go Harvard. I am actually going to try to transfer to nearly any school in Boston because my family is moving there, and my brother is sick. He is getting experimental treatment at Harvard med and I really just want to be as close as possible. Sorry if I came across as a dissatisfied student, but my motivation for transferring is primarily out of concern.

It should definitely be possible to transfer to a good college in Boston, which is loaded with good colleges. Best wishes to your family.
