Transfer for fall 2013

I applied as a freshman for fall 2012 and didn’t get in. I am considering applying as a transfer next year (I have over 30 college units completed at a local community college, so I would be applying as a junior). My high school GPA is somewhat lacking (only about 3.5  ). I got 1820 on my SATs, and 27 on the ACT. However, I took many college courses throughout high school and have a lot of extracurriculars/volunteer work. I am confident that I will be able to write a strong essay. I will work very hard in college next year to keep as high of a GPA as possible, and try to get involved at the university I will be attending. I know that transfer admissions is VERY tough, and I probably don’t even stand a chance due to my high school grades/scores, but Brown is my dream school, so I have to as least try.
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me exactly how high my GPA in college should be, and what else I can do to increase my chances?
Thank you!!

Transfer admissions are generally even more selective than first-year admissions.
