Transfer for Fall 2014 Semester

Is the fact that apps don’t even move out of “Ready for Review” until mid-June hearsay or stated somewhere on McGill’s site? Would hate to get a decision back as late as July. Was hoping you’d start to see fully completed applications moving into the review stage by this point.

Its rolling admissions. It depends when you first applied and how good your grades are. People who apply early and have top grades tend to be given acceptances in sooner.

Thanks! I suppose it didn’t work in my favor to apply a few hours before the deadline then, lol.

I have a few more questions if you don’t mind, if you aren’t sure about them no problem.

1) I had to pick two choices (not sure if that’s universal for everyone) and on the page that lists both my applications it says “Applications processed and under review” and then if I click an individual application it says “Status: Ready for Review”. Does that mean they’re currently under review and the next change in status will probably go form “Ready to Review” to “Accepted/Declined/etc”, with there being no “Under Review” status because they currently are?

2) As I understand from speaking briefly to admissions the majority of their apps (especially for transfer) are to arts and business. I’m applying to a rather small program within science, do you think that may speed things up?

3) Does being Canadian-born and attending a large Ontario university perhaps speed things up as well?

Sorry for my impatience, just quite anxious about this all!

Nevermind, found a good page regarding the above questions hidden away on their site.

has anyone received a decision these past few days?

I haven’t (as you can no doubt tell from my above posts) is your status still “Ready for Review”?

it’s been “further review required” since march even though i uploaded the requirements then…

I can confirm that application statuses will not be changing until late june and late july for the majority of us.
Most people find out in either the last week of june or the first two weeks of july.
Having spoken to and seen posts from various other university transfers from past years that is the time when most people have heard back from mcgill,

also, some very unlucky people find out in the first week of august - totoally sucks but it all depends on when you applied and whether or not you were on the waitlist, (ie; how good your grades were)

Does that apply for American transfer applicants as well?

^ Was told a few days ago that being a Canadian citizen and/or resident made no difference in time of decision.

My application status just changed , (they needed a document that wasnt previously listed on my documentation list. which means…they have started looking at application! just to let you guys know :)

My application just updated a few days ago asking for my IB grades. Now its back to Further Review Required. The suspense is killing me.

Just an update, I got waitlisted for B of Arts.
HS GPA: 3.4
SAT: 2080
IB: 32
Uni (UCSD) GPA: 3.74

:/

^ Sorry to hear that. Did you get an e-mail telling you that there’s been an update?

Yeah, I got an email telling me my decisions had been updated.

better then an outright rejection - a lot of people are initially waitlisted but then accepted in the beginning of july. dont lose hope! when mine changed to ‘further review required’ i didnt get an email, i just kept checking minerva. (suspense is killing me right now…)

anyone else want to share their stats? updated statuses?

Nothing has changed for me. I’m still stuck in ‘Ready for Review’. Today is the last day to enroll in the res lottery, so I’m hoping that I at least hear something.

while we all patiently (or not-so patiently) wait for our admission decisions, i stumbled upon this interesting video… “how college admission decisions are made”

<a href=“College Admissions: Inside the Decision Room - YouTube”>College Admissions: Inside the Decision Room - YouTube;

Waitlisted.
3.96 GPA from an American Community College, 5 honors classes and 2 consecutive semesters receiving a 4.0 GPA.
Unfortunately, they requested my high school transcript which was less than stellar.
Any chance of me getting in? Does anyone know when they generally get back to their waitlisted applicants?

Seriously? Even with a 3.96 GPA…thats insane.

I have a 3.8 coming from a canadian university and they asked for my HS transcript not too long ago (which is also less than stellar) I still havent heard back yet.

On Reddit the other day I read of one transfer student who found out in early august which is pretty unfortunate. But most waitlisted students are notified in July!
