Transfer for Spring 2016

Hey guys,

I applied as a transfer for the Spring 2016 semester. I checked the requirements and it states that you need a 3.0 GPA. Well I have a 2.4 currently. I had personal issues (depression and anxiety due to circumstances in my life at the time) my first year and it absolutely destroyed my GPA, but I’m recovering. I applied to be a Computer Engineering major. My major GPA is a 3.3. I’m currently taking my last math and physics courses needed. I have not gotten anything below a B in any of my major classes. I know my chances of getting accepted are virtually zero, but I wanted to know if they take growth and potential into consideration because my grades have increased tremendously within the last year. Also, would it be possible to appeal a rejection letter, if I am rejected, and explain everything that happened for my GPA to be that low. All answers are appreciated. Thanks!

You can certainly write a letter, but it’s hard to guarantee anything, because the academic piece is far and away the most important piece of the transfer application, particularly in demanding programs like engineering. We might want to wait until we get your fall grades.
