transfer for the cognitive science dept.

I'm currently a freshman at Cornell, tentatively double majoring in Philosophy and Psych with a concentration in Cognitive Science. I really wanted to major in Cognitive Science, but Cornell is in the midst of revamping the department, and it won't be conferring majors for another 5 YEARS or so. I want to do technical aspects of cognitive science, but to do neurobiology I would need to take full biology, etc. Yale is the only other college with a cognitive science program that I'm interested in. If I have a 4.0 after first semester, and with stellar SATs (770 CR - 740 M - 740 W) and SAT IIS (770 chem, 760 MII, 720 bio), would they let me in knowing that I wanted to do cogsci? I heard that with a specific reason to transfer they'll give preference.

Also, I was published in Science Magazine this summer (it's on par with Nature, but for life sciences.) And I will be doing cogsci research this semester at cornell. Will this help?

Please, someone answer. The best would be someone who transferred to Yale. Even better, from Cornell.

You might as well try. It is unbelievably competitive but you have a shot - having a good reason like yours, and perfect grades, and a good record otherwise will help a lot.
