***transfer Friendly Schools In The Northeast?

does anyone know any prestigious "transfer friendly" schools in the northeast for biological science majors????

by transfer friendly i mean...
-not totally impossible to transfer to.
-guaranteed housing.
-all around enouraging attitude toward transfer students.

i'm already applying to cornell, but if anyone could let me know of some more "trasnfer friendly" schools it would be greatly appreciated.

i've heard things about upenn? brown, even?

what about carnegie melon? case western? johns hopkins?? duke?? dartmouth? other ivies?

..by the way i'm a 3.85(AT LEAST, after this semester) soph at SUNY Albany (a new york state resident) with LOADS of great extracurriculars (RA, pres. honor society, bio club, pre-med club, sporadic volunteering, organized a food drive)

Brown would be a good option. We accept about 150 transfers (sophs and juniors) first semester. Duke accepted <4% last year, so my advice would be not to waste the time and application fee and don't apply there. Don't know about many other places, though.

Brown - Easier to get into than for first years, strong transfer orientation.

UNC-CH - MUCH easier (out of state) than for first year admissions due to the dropping of the in-state quota for transfers. Large transfer population means you'll meet a lot of them. No guaranteed housing, but Granville towers (right on campus) is actually even better socially and in terms of loction (its full of transfers) and they always have room.

Dartmouth - Amazing social integration for transfers. Orientation, great housing, a smaller community (both overall school and # of transfers), special advising (and dinners, etc), and most importantly Sophomore summer (where you spend the summer with your class) and everyone going on Dartmouth study abroad sponsored programs make it VERY easy to be a transfer. I'd say the "friendliest" of the top schools to transfers, by the time you graduate no one will even remember you were a transfer.

dartmouth is IMPOSSIBLE to transfer into.

I got rejected from Brown twice....
But I got into PENN.

I've heard W&M is good although I'm afraid I don't know about the majors. My friend transferred there; she said the transfer admissions woman was beyond helpful and they're still helpful to this day, the orientation was great (they even have transfer ambassadors) and she lives with other transfers. I'm also looking for "transfer friendly" schools, mainly to do with a good orientation, helpful administration and living together. What about Barnard too?

dartmouth is impossible?

Dartmouth only lets in about 20-25 transfers each year out of many very qualified applicants. I would say it's definitely one of the harder transfer schools.

Brown is a great school to transfer into if you don't need any financial aid...I read that they even base your acceptance on whether or not you need financial assistance...so remember that before you apply...you may get accepted but make sure that you have the funds to cover the full tuition just in case you don't get any aid
