<p>I currently attend a private 4-year university in CA and I'm really happy here, but the cost of attendance is just too high for my family to afford. We're not given nearly as much financial aid as needed and I think transfer is probably my best option at this point. </p>
<p>I will be a sophomore this fall. My freshman year wasn't so hot, so my GPA is a mere 3.0. I'm sure I can bring it up next semester, but I know most UC's don't accept winter/spring apps anymore so those grades wouldn't account for much, would they?</p>
<p>Well, my primary question is this: I would like to transfer to UCSD (ideally) for my junior year. Should I transfer to a CC for my sophomore year? Do I have any chances of being admitted if I stay at the school I currently attend? By the way, I would be transferring as a Sociology major. </p>
<p>Any and all advice is welcome, really. I really don't know what to do :(

<p>You would have to complete your final 30 units (1 year) at a CCC, but yeah going to a CCC for a year would give you a much greater chance of admission.</p>
<p>At the 4-year private you attend, your chance of admission would be significantly lower because your reason to transfer is second to the UC-transfers need to transfer.</p>
<p>Honestly if you truly aspire to transfer to UCSD, it would be in your best interest to go to a CCC for a year.</p>
<p>If you would like to increase your chances of transferring to UCSD, as well as receiving education at a lower cost, I would think that CCC would be a good option.</p>
