Transfer from 4-year to WA CC for AS and then UW?

Hi,

I'm looking to transfer for the fall into UW from a 4-year school, but as the notification period gets closer I'm losing confidence in my chances of getting in. One option I've floated around in my head is going to a WA community college, getting my AS, and then transferring to UW.

Part of the reason I'm considering this is because I've noticed it's a lot easier to get into UW through an in-state CC than from a 4-year school. I know they have to save a certain number of spots in each class for in-state CC students with Associates degrees so that's why I think this is a good route.

Thoughts?

You can try, but you will have to find a convincing reason why you transferred to the CC. Otherwise it just looks like you are trying to game the system and I’m pretty sure they will notice it.

Oh i don’t think it’ll be that hard. Explain that you went to CC due to financial reasons, etc
