Transfer from a Mississippi Community College (Chance me please)

Hi, I'm a transfer in my first year of college at a MS community college looking to transfer to Cornell in Fall 2014. I'll get right to it:

H.S. unweighted GPA: 4.0
H.S. weighted GPA: 4.2
Salutatorian of my graduating class (Valedictorian went to Yale, if you wondered; she has been the first and so far only person from my high school to go to an Ivy)
College GPA (after first and only completed semester): 4.0 (spring semester is so far looking to keep that 4.0)
ACT: 28
Looking to apply to the College of Arts and Sciences as a music major. I am currently a music major at my current institution.

Extracurricular activities
I have a few things that I could list, but I'll keep it short. I am a fairly proficient saxophonist and have won an international championship with a marching band (MS Lions All-State Band) that I had to audition twice to get into. Roughly 50 sax players audition every year and 6 are accepted each year. I was the first student from my high school to make it into this band in 15 years. This was my largest high school accomplishment. However, I was also the captain and 4-year member of my high school's academic team and took all the AP and honors classes my rural MS high school offered (not many, hence the 4.2).

As far as college goes, I have been very focused on music. But I have also been involved in my college's Honors Institute both semesters that I have been here. I took 9 college credits while I was still in high school. I took 22 last semester (mostly music classes; all As), and this semester I am taking 31 credits (all As so far).

So what do you think? Is this Cornell material potentially? I've already applied but it'll be a long wait. Just curious. Thank you so much for your input. It is much appreciated.

Please chance me, guys! I’ll chance back.

Your extracurriculars seem very strong, big awards in music will definitely be a plus. I think for music majors, does Cornell look at your music portfolio and interview/audition you? That I don’t know.

Your ACT should be at least 30; average range 30-34. Other academics are good.

I feel you may be borderline due to your ACT score, and I do not know how competitive is Cornell’s music program. I feel for music majors, the acceptance will be less typical in that Cornell may accept someone musically gifted and accomplished despite a few shortcomings in academics.

Thank you for your comment and feedback. It’s very much appreciated. Cornell is weird about music auditions. They wait to audition music majors AFTER they’ve been accepted and start school. That’s a very strange way to do things. So I’m not counting on being a music major really. If I need to change majors, that’s fine. I could always finish my Music Ed degree later somewhere else.

As far as the ACT goes, it is kind of low for Cornell, but I’m curious if they put much weight on the ACT and SAT for transfer students. Considering that they’re college readiness tests and I have an established GPA for college already, that’s puzzled me. Anyway, your words are much appreciated! And please let me know if I can do anything for you.

More comments from others are still greatly appreciated if you have anything to add to that or share from personal experience, etc.
