Hi,
I was accepted to CAS for this coming fall, but I have recently been thinking of all the class requirements that I may or may not feel like taking. I feel like, as most likely a Bio major, CALS would be more suited to my interests, and I would not feel as bogged down with required classes in undesirable fields. I've heard a lot about how some people think of CAS as the prestigious school compared to the others, which concerns me. Would transferring from CAS to CALS be reasonable, or should I just deal with what I already have? Thanks.

Your degree will be from Cornell either way - don’t worry about which college will sound more “prestigious.” Rather, think about which college is a better match for your academic interests / career goals.

The internal transfer process is a bit of work, but definitely doable. As long as you maintain good grades (I think for your first semester?), and have a strong justification for your decision to transfer, you will be fine.

Don’t worry too much about it. There are plenty of bio CAS who switched to CALS due to stringent graduation requirements. Like equilibrium said, maintain good grades for a semester or two and a good reason for your transfer and you will most definitely be able to switch to bio CALS.

I personally don’t think CALS is a “less prestigious” college. In fact the bio majors in CAS and CALS all take the same courses so you as a CALS bio major will be getting the same education and privilege as CAS bios. Honestly, once you enter Cornell, you will realize that no one really cares about which college you are from especially in the bio department. Don’t let the thought of prestige bog you down because at the end of the day, you will be graduating as Cornellian.
