I've been perusing these forums for several days now. Having looked at the RD/ED threads and seen people's chance threads, I've noticed that getting into Wharton is EXTREMELY tough.

Alas, I'm not sure I have what it takes at this point. I'm a rising senior with excellent grades and good EC's, but my test scores aren't all that. Wharton is ultimately what I want, but I'm sensing a deferral followed by a rejection. However, I think I can get into the CAS if I apply ED, as it isn't as cutthroat as Wharton based on my observations.

Let's get to the point - is a transfer from CAS to Wharton after freshman year feasible? Typically, how many (if any) students attempt this yearly? Do any of these succeed?

Secondly, a number of my friends, all of whom are now at Lehigh because they didn't have the stuff for Penn, won't shut up about the "Integrated Business and Engineering Program(s)" at Penn. Now, I don't really know much about this program, other than that it's absolutely stunning, according to these guys. Anyhow, if anyone could offer some information about this program, that'd be swell. Does admittance into the program require admittance to Wharton?

Just a few things that have been in my peripheral vision lately, thank you.

My Penn interviewer was actually accepted to CAS, but transfered to Wharton after freshman year (only to transfer back to CAS after sophomore year). I believe I read that you just need a certain GPA, and you'd probably have to get approved by some Wharton committee, to transfer from CAS to W. It's def possible, but I'm sure many people know more about it than me.
Also, a lot of people are probably gonna say that it's not the best thing to get accepted at CAS with the intention of transferring to Wharton. Obviously you can see how it could be perceived.

The program is called M&T (Management and Technology, I believe). It is very impressive and also very selective. Whenever you apply to a joint program, you pick a backup school. If you're not accepted to the program, they consider you for the school you pick just like a regular applicant. So..you could pick between engineering and Wharton.

When you say dismal what do you mean because "wharton" dismal and dismal are two different things....if your one of those people who get scared away by numbers and you are unsatisfied with your 1400...then thats a totally different story....when it comes down to it what I am asking are....what are your scores?

You're right. A 2000/31 ACT/1570 (on two SAT IIs) is just godawful. You should kill yourself now to avoid having to live with that shame for the rest of your life. Nobody with stats that low has ever gotten into Wharton, so just give up now. I actually suggest applying to Nursing and trying to transfer then, because you'll never even get into CAS with that ****. And when I say "apply to Nursing," I mean the nursing program at Barry in Florida.

Haha well you dealt with that very nicely....now I dont know the workings of CAS inside and out and your grades fall within their mid range...but obviously I think you understand your far from guranteed a spot being admitted even ED....and furthermore your right you would have practically zero chance with wharton....now with that said the college admissions process is crazy but if I were you I would go with an ED application to CAS and then see what happens when you get there....dont apply with the mindset of IM TRANSFERING TO WHARTON...but rather I really like Penn and Im going to make the best of the situation...then when the time comes around for the hypothetical transfer see where you are at....but of course you need to get in first!

I mean, if I give it 110%, I can get a 2250+ on the SAT next time around. That was just one sitting...I imagine most people hit below their intended mark on the first crack.

I kinda love how everyone on this board assumes that saying IM GOING TO GIVE 100% AND IM GOING TO GET A 2300 next time is going to happen....many times people go up and many times people go down but a 150 point jump is not very likely and you got the score you got for a reason
