Transfer from CC in NJ to SUNY or other state school?

I really want to transfer to SUNY A for the spring of 09. I am almost done with my "2 years" at the community college. I screwed up first semester because I took on 3 jobs and didn't go to class but have been going up

2.3
2.78
2.85
3.6

I know there is a 3.1 min gpa requirement for the business school. I am taking Calc, a Philosophy, and Computer class in the fall and I want to major in Marketing and don't think I can get it up high enough, it is 2.85 cum now.

But is there any way I would be able to get into the school maybe into a different major first then transfer to a business major? Is there any way they won't reject me if I don't reach the requirement of 3.1? Are my chances slim for SUNY A?

I really want to go to a big, state school (SUNY pref), somewhere with good public transportation. Can you recommend any other SUNYs that would fit my preferences?

Can you chance me for these anyways...

SUNY Albany
SUNY Buffalo
SUNY Baruch
Rutgers
Montclair

Thank you!!

You need to write a STRONG essay and you will probably get a chance at SUNY Albany and SUNY Bufallo. Get your grades up next semester and MAKE SURE YOUR ESSAY Lifts you up!

Note: Baruch is not a SUNY, Its a CUNY. My bro transferred there after getting his Associates from a 2 year, he had a 3.89 GPA

Try SUNY oneonta, oswego, fredonia or platsburgh. They're not as big as the others but you've got a much better shot at them.

I go to MSU right now, and with a good essay you should get in no problem. I'm not sure what your EC's are but it'd be nice to get some stats on that as well.
