Okay so college acceptances have been coming out and I didn´t really make it into my top picks so I am planning on attending a CC or Cal State and then transferring. I know that if I want to transfer to a UC, I would be better off going to a California CC (there is one right by me so that is definitely an option). But when it comes to competitive 4 yr private schools (like Stanford, Georgetown, Princeton etc) does anyone know if they tend to favor transfers from a CCs or a 4 year schools such as CSUF or SDSU? Thanks!
From my limited knowledge, I’ll try to reiterate what some of the top posters on this site have said regarding transferring. Generally speaking, UC’s tend to look at CC transfers first, then UC transfers, followed by CSU and high school transfers. You should make sure that whatever CC you go to, that their classes are transferable for credit. I had to take an one online class at another CC as a pre-req. Regarding top private schools, there are multiple threads on here showing that CC students do in fact transfer to these schools. I’m not aware of the statistics or how easy it would be. I think you would be best off contacting these schools directly or navigate their pages for info regarding transfers. Many CC have transfer agreement plans with UCs, but out of state schools will be difficult.
