Hello, I am planning to transfer to UC Irvine next year as a Computer Science major. Just Computer Science, not Computer Science and Engineering. I am currently at a community college (East Los Angeles College) and am taking the courses approved for transfer according to assist.org. However, there doesn’t seem to be any physics classes which surprised me because other schools require physics for transfer. Is physics not required for CS majors are UC Irvine or is it just not listed on assist.org?

One year of calculus-based physics is required to transfer in to CS at UCI. It may be that the ELA physics courses don’t match up. You can take physics at another CCC that does articulate, but the whole physics sequence should be completed at the same school.
Actually, at UCI the CS major is in the Bren school of information sciences and computer science–not Engineering. Physics is not required. However, I believe that one year of science is required, but that can be chemistry, biology, or physics. At all other UC schools, the CS major is in the college of engineering, and physics is a requirement for those programs.

Ah, @rocket88 is correct. Only a year of calculus and a year of computer science are required for CS at UCI. I had scrolled from CS down to CSE, which has more requirements. (That’s the trouble with using a smartphone to look up important stuff!) That said, if you want to be considered at more than one UC campus, physics would be a good choice among the sciences as it is required everywhere else.
That is, required for transfer…check the original link and select the Donald Bren school.
Oh ok, so I guess I don’t have to take physics since it’s for CSE only. Thanks for the help @rocket88 , @PadreDeTres
