Hi everyone! I'm a current CC student and I'll be starting my third semester this summer. My counselor suggested I only take two classes (Statistics + a transferable course), but I also registered for a physics class (Physics for Everyday Use). The thing is that once I transfer to a UC and all that I want to start focusing on the pre-med courses because I do want to go to medical school. Well one of the pre-med requirements is an introductory physics class and an introductory statistics class as well. Since I'm taking those two in community college do you think it'll affect my admissions into medical school later on? I'm asking because I've read before that most medical schools prefer the pre-med requirements be taken at a four-year level. If that's the case, should I drop the physics class before the semester starts? Statistics can't be helped because I need it to take biology (which is another pre-med requirement) and other classes that UCLA requires for a psychology major. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I'm planning to transfer to UCLA not UCLA Medical School.
Also, I'm taking Humanities this summer as well. Humanities is a highly recommended course for pre-med students for admission into medical schools. So, should I also drop this course or continue on with it? I mean, it's not an actually requirement but it's still strongly recommended. Thanks again!!

youll need that physics intro course to take the calc based physics

I don’t think it will look bad that you took some of those classes at a cc. I know people at UCSD Med school that did and well, they’re at UCSD Med school. They did major in biology, though… I’m not sure if it’s any different for Psychology.
About your physics intro class, it depends on the cc you’re at. I took the calc based physics sequence without any physics intro course. The only requirement for the 1st semester of calc based physics was calc 1. If I’m not mistaken, some med schools also require calculus, maybe even a year of calculus, so keep that in mind. Don’t follow the requirements of just one med school.
And about your Humanities class, it can also be used to fulfill the IGETC requirement and/or general ed when you transfer, so it can’t hurt.
Lastly, it sounds like you’re planning on taking 3 summer classes? That’s a lot. Be careful with that.
I am going to UCI this Fall, transferring from a cc, also pre-med. The best advice I can give you is to be careful with your course selection. When you transfer, you should be worrying about your upper division major classes, not with your basic premed requirements.
And here some info from the AAMC website: https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/requirements/

Medical school admission requirements vary from school to school. In general, most medical schools will expect applicants to have taken the Medical College Admission Test® (MCAT®), and to have completed the following types of courses:
One year of biology
One year of physics
One year of English
Two years of chemistry (through organic chemistry)

I hope this helps a little. :)
