I want to transfer from Cornell University.

I think I will have a 3.7 first semester in 4 classes (including Biology for medicine and majors, which is curved to a B-). I had a 1450 SAT I score, high high school GPA, all aps/honors, ranked tennis player, president of a few clubs.

at Cornell
Main EC> Presidential Research Scholar, 1 of 40 freshman out of 3000 freshman, selected for every year...you keep this "Cornell Commitment Fellowship" so long you keep doing the research and meet some guidelines.

um...how can I stand out more than I already have. I am a Presidential Research Scholar, only 40 students out of 3000 are selected each year...how much more a distinction do I need.

I know people who transfered to Stanford from Carnegie Mellon and the University of Florida. They didn't have much that stood out.

Why do you want to transfer from Cornell? I'm a senior in HS in NY and am going to apply to both Cornell and Stanford. It seemed nice when I went up...

put it this way...i want to be around more intellectually stimulating people and smarter ppl in general, you would be suprised how many idiots walk on streets at Cornell.

um...let me clarify...when i say idiot..i am not saying like dumb kids who are drug addicts who aren't serious about academics. Some kids here, you look at, and you think to yourself, how in the world do they attend a supposed top 15 university, like it just blows my mind how dumb kids here. However, despite some of these idiots, the competition is sooo stiff b/c you have to remember that more than half the kids at cornell are bright and there are so many students, that you will find competition in every class.

Bball...I just don't see it...if you think the kids are idiots there at Cornell, you're gonna find them everywhere. You might want to go for the glass half full perspective. Take the half that you say are as competitive as hell and try and prove that you're up to the task.

If you don't like living in Upstate NY then that's an entirely different matter...

Besides you'll not likely find a better opportunity anywhere in the country than CPRS
