Transfer from CSULA to SDSU + Honors Program

Hey All,
So I’m planning on transferring from CSULA (quarter system) to SDSU (semester system). I just finished up my first year at CSULA and should be applying for transfer this upcoming fall. My major is English, and my current GPA is 3.91. What are my chances of getting into SDSU? Also, by the end of my second year at CSULA, I would’ve taken mainly lower division courses with the exception of two upper division courses. Since my school is a quarter system, and since I would have already taken two upper division courses at CSULA by the end of my stay there, I’m wondering if I will I experience any complications in transferring over all my units? One last question. I also plan on applying to the Honors program at SDSU, and this question is directed towards the honor students over there. What are the classes like? Are they harder? Is there a heavier workload? I keep hearing the same old “They’re not harder; they’re different.” From your point of view, what is it like to be in the program?

Thanks all.

Great job so far!

SDSU is a really competitive transfer destination and gives significant preference to local applicants. I don’t know if a 3.91 will do the trick. Be sure to apply to a couple of schools. With a 3.91, you’ll be very competitive for UCs - just something to think about.

You will likely loose some units when you transfer… that’s just the way it goes.

I don;t know anyone currently in the SDSU Honors program. But, a you’ve heard, honors at most CSUs isn’t harder but, the courses tend to be smaller and more interactive. For some, that accountability translates to harder for some.
