Transfer from Fordham to UMiami...bad for medical school?

Hello!

I am a junior pre-med at Fordham and I absolutely hate it. As the fall semester is starting, I want to transfer to either Miami or Temple in the spring semester, preferably Miami. This is something that can be done, as I've gotten the okay from both universities. I'm wondering, however, if medical school will look down upon a potential transfer from Fordham to UM. It's nothing academic or financial, it's really just that I am miserable at Fordham.

Thanks!

While on the surface there is nothing wrong with it, when were you planning on applying to med school? If you want to go straight to med school you will be applying at the end of your first semester at Miami.

I didn’t think about that. Yes, ideally I’d go straight to medical school, but I suppose if they make me stay a semester extra, I wouldn’t

Stay an extra semester in the event that some credits don’t transfer, which I don’t mind

I hope you’ve checked with trasnfer requirements. Even if you have enough credits, more than likely, colleges want their students to attend for a minimum of 4 semesters or obtain at least 60 credits. That includes summer and/or a January term.

If you’re trying to figure out when to apply to med school, you should know that many schools are rolling decision, and you’d be considered late if you get your materials in by September/October.
