I am considering applying to CMU early decision and one of the things I was considering was applying to SCS. Unfornatuely, I don't think my stats will make the cut for SCS and was considering how difficult it is to transfer to SCS from Info Sytems in HSS?

It’s probably not as hard as it is to do the reverse, but CMU’s pretty harsh on the whole college transferring. you’d have to reapply to CMU if you want to transfer.

^ Not exactly a reapplication. You fill out a form and they go by your GPA at CMU along with your essay and relevant coursework. SAT scores may be considered but definitely not at the scale of incoming HS seniors.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding AtoChansu but it would be more difficult to transfer from IS in HSS to SCS. SCS and Tepper are the most competitive schools at CMU when it comes to admission.

Transferring into SCS within CMU is highly dependent on what grades you get in the intro CS classes. I had a roommate who transferred from physics after taking the same CS classes as me in freshman year, and got A’s in all of them. Namely: 21-127, 15-251, 15-211.

Do any of those courses ever fill up?
