So, right now I attend Bard College and things between the two of us just aren't quite working out for the better. I intend on transferring for the fall 2006 semester and I've a list of possibilities but I'm still a bit lost. Any input at all would be much appreciated.

Current GPA - ~3.9
ACT - 30
HS GPA - 93%
HS Rank - 86 of 298
Pretty involved with HS extra-curriculars including soccer, basketball, lacrosse, volunteer work, and photography.
Fairly involved with college ECs so far.

Right now my list includes:
Tufts (Rejected when I applied for freshman admission)
NYU (Gallatin - waitlisted the first time around)
Columbia
Brown
Cornell
UPenn
Wesleyan
Reed
McGill

Do I even have a fighting chance? I know I should apply to a few matches but I'm not sure where as of yet, they'll most likely end up replacing one or two of the ivies.
Any thoughts, questions, opinions? Any advice or input is more than welcome. Thanks.

Why are you transferring if you don't mind me asking? Penn and Cornell have pretty high acceptance rates for transfers, so that might work in your favor. Since you're applying as a sophomore transfer your hs transcript will still hold some weight. A rule of thumb is that colleges that rejected you as a first year applicant usually like to see years of college work completed instead of just one. So, I don't know what your chances would be like at Tufts since they rejected before. If you can keep your GPA to about high school level, you might want to apply again but also keep in the back of your mind that your rejection a year before might hurt you.

I'm looking to transfer because I've found the overall environment to be stifling. Mainly the severe isolation of the school and the fact that it's just so small and I see the same people every single day. It honestly feels more like a summer camp than a college.
So, I'm searching for a large(r) school that doesn't just exist within a rural bubble.

I understand the likelihood of rejection from Tufts. I just figured that since I still have an interest in attending, and I'm certainly not spending another year here, I might as well try again.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I had the some of the issues at a college I attended. I honestly think you should apply to Tufts again. Although you were initially rejected, applying again would show that you truly are interested in attending and that might work in your favor. :)

You'll get into Tufts as a transfer. They've got a reputation as being very transfer-friendly. Also, I think your HS rank may have been what held you back from getting in as a freshman.
