transfer from MCB-->EECS

so i'm currently a sophomore and i was planning on doing MCB, but (after long, long thought) i want to pursue EECS, possibly option IIC. any thoughts?

I'd probably be here an extra semester, doable?

I say go for it! Leftist I don’t think that would be wise cuz looking from his schedule he seems to be more focused in electrical engineering and not so much CS, so EECS would be a better fit.

I would go for it. You have some hard work ahead of you, but i think you can make it if you know what you’re getting yourself into. Be sure to talk to an advisor to help you transfer over to CoE.

i was thinking more along the lines of electrical rather than cs, otherwise the cs in l&s would have been (i would have at least had the breadths done). i think i might do it! definitely need to talk to someone in coe first.

and actually, just for the record, it’s “her” schedule, not “his” ;)

Are you still pre-med? It looks like you’re still going through with ochem and bio. Pretty badass if you can pull it off :P.

if you don’t want to graduate in 4.5 years, you could take more classes in the summer. also i’d skip CS 3L and Stat 134, and take EE 126 (probability for EE) as your elective

yeah, i’m still premed. i might not go right out of school, but i still want that option. Besides, i already have all the other premed requirements done.

oh, and the reason i was going to take cs3l was because i need to develop my cs skills a little more before cs 61a.

You can do 3L over the winter break by yourself.

how? should i just get the book and do it on my own?

if you already know how to program at least at an elementary level (eg. you should probably be familiar with recursion)… then you’re fine for 61A.

if you’re not, i’d recommend just learning python ([The Python Tutorial — Python v2.6.4 documentation](The Python Tutorial — Python 3.12.4 documentation)) over winter break.

Seems like your set on EECS but I think you should consider L&S CS plus EE minor.

P.S. You should consult an academic advisor because I recall hearing that the engineering department doesn’t take Junior/Senior transfers into EECS

^ how do u do an EE minor? I was thinking about transfering to EECS too?

@DougK: but i’m only a sophomore

i’m going to talk to an advisor tomorrow
