Transfer from NYU class of 2022 to possibly to Columbia Please Help!

Hi I’m a senior who was recently admitted to NYU Tandon. I’ve visited there but to be frank I’m not sure if I want to be there
in fact now that I’m admitted in I’m not really sure if I want to major in engineering at all. So my plan is to apply for transfer to NYU CAS for my sophomore year and then to apply for transfer to Columbia or other similar schools for my Junior year. How likely do you think this is in terms of possibility.
*Also for Tandon due to my AP credits I can afford to not take a good chunk of first year classes but Columbia or other schools require 24 credits for transfer. Will this be admitted in or no? If not would you recommend that I take the classes anyway?

Anyone with any knowledge regarding the matter please help and give me some recommendations as to what I would do to accomplish my goals!
Also please note that I’m not looking to transfer to these schools because of prestige.
My goal is to go to med school and I don’t think I can accomplish that in NYU Tandon engineering and with application process getting harder and harder every year I want to provide myself with the best opportunities

My High school GPA: 3.65
ACT: 35
SAT IIs: 750 IIc 770 Bio
AP: 4 bio, 4 Environmental Science, 4 Lang more to come as of now
EC: Captain of debate, captain of varsity swim, captain of club swim, some leadership programs, EMT in volunteer ambulance corps, and etc
College GPA: to be determined

Transferring in the way you describe would be a super long shot, frankly. My advice would be to transfer to CAS ASAP if pre-med is what you want now, and forget about a second transfer. If you transferred to Columbia as a junior you’d have to take all the Core courses in 2 years, plus grind out your major, plus pre-med requirements. It would hugely suck from a quality of life perspective. Not to mention the strong possibility of bombing a pre-med course or getting GPA < 3.5 ending the med school dream. Learn to love NYU.

@Morningsider so Columbia junior transfers have to take the core?

Transfer to schools similar to Columbia is hugely competitive. I suggest that you forget about the need for prestige and concentrate on your pre-med classes at NYU.

A few comments:

From Columbia transfer web page “We typically admit fewer than 10 percent of the applicants for transfer admission each year. Potential transfers are expected to have a minimum GPA of 3.5 overall; Columbia Engineering candidates are strongly encouraged to have a minimum GPA of 3.5 in their mathematics and science courses.” https://undergrad.admissions.columbia.edu/apply/transfer

I don’t see why you can’t get where you want to go from NYUTandon if you excel there and do well on the MCATs.

I expect all Columbia graduates need to complete the core.

Yes, according to the website, everyone has to complete the Core in order to graduate.
