Transfer from NYU STERN to IVY or Georgetown? Please suggest target schools

I am a current freshman at nyu stern (finished 1 semester) and have a 3.85 GPA. My high school stats: Up to junior year I had a 4.38 and was ranked 5th in my graduating class 300+, but senior year I did get one bad final grade… C+ in AP BIO :/ but I have a strong track record besides my lackluster senior year final grade lol. My sat score: 2270 (Math 800 CR 750 Writing 720) My high school activities are not that great, but I do have credible work experience. I managed to increase my family's business over $120,000 in the course of 6 months from Amazon sale to pay for my education at NYU. I need to transfer for financial reasons. I can't afford to attend NYU because I got no aid due 1) I did not file in the CSS profile in time because of hurricane sandy 2) my parent's higher income 3) and the combined effect of my brother attending NYU Stern with me is getting too much to handle. As of now, I can only think of Ivys offering me aid… Please suggest other schools that will give full aid to even upper-middle incomes!

As of now.. Please chance me for
Georgetown business
UPENN Economics
UPENN wharton
dartmouth economics
Cornell AEM
Cornell CAS Economics
Cornell ILR Economics
Columbia
Duke
UChicago
Northwestern
Williams
Amherst

Any other suggestions for schools??? Please note I need schools at NYU Stern's level of caliber: recruitment-wise and academic-wise. NYU Stern has great recruitment due to its location and strong finance focus. I want to get into investment banking and need a school that will provide me with equal or better opportunities to break into this industry compared to the opportunities stern provides me with now
And.. the school must be more affordable! (AKA GIVE AID TO UPPER MIDDLE INCOME )

Thank you!

I think you have a good chance of transferring into those schools but I doubt you will receive aid. You increased your family business by 120,000? That’s not upper-middle, that’s at least lower-upper.

Hey, I’m in the exact same situation as you are. I’m a Stern freshman as well and I’m considering trying to transfer to Northwestern or UIUC due to financial reasons (I’m from Illinois). I think you have pretty good chances at the schools you’ve listed, but again I’m not sure if the financial aid would be any better, especially as a transfer, which is my dilemma too.

elloelise,

Transfer students at most schools are not eligible for aid.

^This is not true for the OPs list of schools. Some may give less to transfers than fr admits, but transfers are still eligible for FA.

elloelise, I was just looking at Northwestern’s website and they say that transfers are not eligible for financial aid the first year, so you might want to look through the websites for all of your schools.

im just curious as to why you want to transfer from stern? like is there something else other than the financial reasons??
