I want to transfer from NYU to Columiba. I am going to be a freshman in the fall, what do I have to do to increase my chances of a succesful tansfer?

I know that it is important for me to have a high GPA. I heard that admission also look at your sat scores. Should I take the SAT again? my score from before is 2200/2400.

Also, my classes for the first semester are chemistry I, calculus II, a history class, and a writing seminar.
I have the option to take chemistry I, biology I, a history class, and a writing seminar. Should I take two sciences instead since im going to be a chem major and wants admissions to see?

I went to NYU, don’t take chemistry and biology at the same time. I didn’t personally take either, but I’ve heard from friends that they’re both incredibly time consuming.

the bio majors are taking them together. also, i will need to take 2 sciences in the next two years if i want to do premed, so it’s not that big of a deal.

is it difficult to get great grades at nyu? do i need to study a lot?

It depends on the major and the professors when it comes to how much you need to study, but as I said, the people I know taking bio and chem were putting a lot of time into the classes just to get decent grades, I think around a B or sometimes lower. If you only need to take two in the next two years, there’s no reason to take both in one semester, and if you want to transfer, I’d personally recommend taking one of them first semester and the other second semester, so that you can put your full focus into each.

Of course, I wasn’t a science major at all, so everything I know about it is kind of second-hand, but I still wouldn’t suggest it.
