I was excepted in Pace university for this fall. I have always had a dream of going to columbia but my high school grades are not that good. So i decided to not apply neither to NYU or Columbia this fall as i was sure i wasnt gettign acceted and i didnt want to have a rejection history in these universitys. I was thinking of maybe applying for transfer after 1 year in pace, and i wouldlike to know what i would need to have a good chance, relating to my GPA and SAT scores.

The highest GPA possible and the highest SAT possible (if they actually still look at it for a transfer) There is no cut off score for Columbia and NYU. You just have to have the best of the best grades and make your application shine. Thats how they will select you. End of discussion.

Keep dreaming. I think you’ve reached your potential at Pace.

LMAO. Haha.

hey, watch it, thats not how you talk to your father columbia 2002.

thanks house of london for the decent advice.

Huh? I don’t get it. My father is proficient in the English language. He also attended good colleges.

hm…yeah, thats great.

jjatt lol are u punjabi? just wondering lol.

btw, no, english is not my first language. Its my 4th, so guess what, i still got into college in your country.

no, im brazilian

Mazel tov; you got into a college that accepts 95% of its applicants!!!

uhh, the tone of some users here is profoundly disturbing. We all know that when people make online threads they dont pay as much attention to spelling and grammar as they would in real life .So why do we have to be mean to people for little things?

And Columbia2002, I asked you this before but never got an answer. Yes, you were accepted to a college that is more selective than this Pace University. So tell us what were you able to accomplish in your life with your Columbia education besides 3,997 postings on this forum?

"I’ll take a stab at it.

He’s been out of school for seven years, approaching his 30s, still lives at home with mom and pop, and spends his Saturday nights playing Halo and being a BA on a college forum. I think his business card reads “Internet Tough Guy” or something of the sort. Prospies, not all Columbia alums are like this tool! It’s actually a great university and the chance of you turning into a fat, unmarried, passionless, and unproductive individual like Columbia2002 is actually very very small."

This is extremely unnecessary especially considering the fact that you don’t even know him in person.

“source: College acceptance rates: How many get in? - USATODAY.com”

Columbia2002, I’m pretty sure someone like you would know better than to use that kind of source to back up your claim. Many of the acceptance rates on that list are skewed thus they are not that credible.

You’re getting lost in the trees and missing the forest. The point is that Pace University is not a selective university – whether it lets in 89% or 95% of its applicants. On that basis, the OP’s bragging that “so guess what, i still got into college in your country” doesn’t carry much weight.

And you’re not going to get an answer this time. I don’t have to justify myself to you.

i think we should all have a party for C02’s 4000th post!

Good for you, got into columbia directly from high school, congratulations. I guess ill just have to stick to my easy 32 IB point offer i got from university college london and university of st andrews in the UK to compeate with you, you have heard of them right? Just thought it would be nice to live in the US. Well i think were done.

Jesus Christ, the guy was just asking for advice. Some of the people on CC need to get the cork out of their asses.

I would say, to be honest, that your chances of transfering to either NYU or Columbia from Pace are rather slim, since I’m willing to bet that a lot of the transfer applications they get come from either Pace or Fordham. But, of course, you should always go for it. Get excellent grades, involve yourself in as many extra curricular activities as possible, get wonderful recommendations from your professors, and you never know. Good luck!

Columbia2002, you are incredibly immature. I am attending Pace University, majoring in Accounting and in the honors college. I am by no means dumb, as you imply by students who attend Pace. I graduated from high school with a 3.8 gpa and 1910 sat score and received great scholarships. Just because a school has a higher acceptance rate doesn’t mean the education is bad. I have friends who have graduated Pace and landed jobs in the Big Four, making well over 60K. Then again, I have friends who have graduated from NYU, majoring in nonsense, and currently unemployed, raking in debt from their massive loans. It’s what you do after college that matters, but obviously the brand name of the university is all that matters to you.

I have to say, Columbia2002 was a jerk, but the OP did say “expected.” It just seems like the OP’s command of English was poor. English is also my fourth language, so I can understand, but, in this case, it seemed as if it wasn’t a poor attention to grammar, but rather, a misunderstanding of it. My two cents, stop making fun of the jerk. He had a valid point, albeit, communicated it poorly/immaturely.

Do you know about correlation, causation, necessary and sufficiency, etc.? Or even basic reading comprehension. Or about straw men.

All I said in this thread was that Pace isn’t a selective university and it’s not impressive that one achieved admission there. That’s it.
