<h2>- Reason for Transfer -</h2>

<p>Honest Reason: I love the mechanical engineering (ME) program at Penn State. It
is challenging and the professors are unbelievable! When I switched to computer
science (CS), I was dismayed that the CS professors were not of the same caliber
as the ME ones. I truly cannot name a single GOOD professor in the college of
Computer Science and I put in effort to engage with the profs. By transferring, I
am looking for a well known school in CS preferably in a city known for
breeding startups (and has a thriving LGBT community).</p>

<p>Ideal Transfer College: Stanford or UC Berkeley
Alternatives: UPenn, U of Washington, U of Texas-Austin</p>

<p>I don’t think you have much of a chance for Stanford. Berkeley is possible. They won’t look at your High School transcript and they won’t care about test scores. 3.51 from a CC is no good but from a legit name brand university it might be okay.</p>

<p>Of all of those, look into U of Washington. Stanford looks unlikely and Berkeley is possible, but you’d have a decent shot at Washington, and the community you’re looking for.</p>

<p>In that region of the country, I’ll also vouch for U of Oregon. Not really a nationally recognized computer science program but a phenomenal business program with lots of startup activity. A good safety option to keep in mind.</p>

<p>The 3.5 won’t work at Stanford most likely. Lowest GPA in the transfer class I know of was a 3.8. I think Cal screens their applicants based on GPA as well and am guessing the 3.5 falls below the cutoff… Try Carnegie Mellon?</p>
