Hi, I’m currently a freshman at Rochester Institute of Technology, I love the school and the faculty, and have no complaints. However, after a semester of soul searching I’m fairly confident I want to switch majors from chemical engineering to environmental science.
I chose RIT early decision because when I was applying I was dead set on engineering. I really liked Suny ESF, but decided against an environmental direction, so I didn’t even apply. However, now that I’m considering a change in field, I’m questioning whether or not I should transfer to ESF. On one hand, RIT is a great school and I’m sure their environmental science program is fine, but also I’m afraid I wouldn’t be getting as much out of the degree than if I went to an environmental school. Does anyone have any advice or knowledge on the topic? Would RIT be just as good of a provider for these interests? Transferring schools seems really stressful, and I’m totally fine with staying here, I really just want some confirmation that environmental science at RIT is worth it. Thank you!
