Transfer from SMC in one year?

I want to transfer to UCLA in one year, I start college at smc in the fall and currently have 18 units already. (2 smc classes and 4 APs, 3 of those APs are history courses)I just want to get a prospective of if this is possible? So far I have considered majoring in history once I transfer and biology. I know biology is much more demanding so would that be impossible, and am I underestimating how hard it will be to transfer to ucla as history major. My ultimate goal is to either go to dental or med school, but it feels weird going that route with a non science major.

I am currently doing this right now at SMC! It’s great to see more one-year transfers out there. It is totally doable, especially because you already have a lot of credit from AP’s. The most important thing I can tell you is to finish as many prereqs as you can before the end of fall. This isn’t necessary but it helps, as schools can see the grades you get in these classes. I just got into Berkeley and was waitlisted by UCLA (my dream school) and I know people who have gotten into all of them. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you that you can’t do it but at the same time be realistic with course choices. Rate my teacher will be your best friend, as it is mine lol. Also, try to finsh IGETC by the end of spring before transfer. That shouldnt be too difficult because you already have AP’s which fulfill some of the requirements. Best of luck and hit me up with any questions is you need them!

@champagnemami Thanks for replying! Do you mind me asking what you want to major in at UCLA? Also, my enrollment date for summer/fall is may 3 and I still havent figured out all my classes. How screwed am I?

@aaronla24 I was waitlisted for UCLA but I am a political science major and will be at UC Berkeley in the fall. Best thing to do right now is to go on assist.org and find your prereqs and try to see how you can best fit those into your schedule.
