*****TRANSFER FROM ST. EDWARD'S TO UT*****

Hey ya'll. I'm an incoming freshman at St. Edward's University intending to transfer to UT Austin my sophomore year. It's my understanding that UT requires 30 hours of transferrable credit. I believe I have 24 credits (AP English III Lang and Comp [6], AP English IV Lit and Comp[6], AP US History [6], Government [3], Macroeconomics [3]) as of now. I'm currently enrolled as a Marketing major at St. Ed's, but I want to major in Advertising at UT. I know Moody is extremely competitive and hard to get into, so I'm going to put COLA as my second choice. I'm meeting with an admissions counselor next week, but I just wanted to know if any of you have advice for me.

Should I stay in the Marketing degree plan or switch over to Communications/Undergrad Studies?

Recommended GPA?

Extracurricular activities that would strengthen my app?

etc.

P.S. I'm also in the "Global Understanding" Learning Community at St. Edward's.

THANKS!

AP credit does not count as credit hours I believe. You can also send them your test scores if you have under 30. You may want to ask the admissions counselor about that. I think GPA for COLA is at least a 3.4 and Moody is probably at least a 3.7.
As for extracurriculars, it doesn’t really matter what they are as long as they’re things that you CARE about and are DEVOTED to. Same for service hours. They’ll notice if you just started doing a bunch of rando activities at the last minute to spice up your application.

AP credits do in fact count, it’s how I had my 30 completed
