Hi,

I am a Senior who wants to obviously be accepted into Rice. I am applying early decision and am unsure of my admission success since someone who is well qualified can still be rejected. If I get rejected would i have a higher chance of being admitted as a transfer student after my first year at U of H who made great grades than an applicant straight out of highschool? I want U of H since its extremely close to home so if you are wondering why i dont pick Texas A&M thats why.

Also the school you graduate from is what goes on your degree right? so if i transferred my degree would be from rice?

I want to be an electrical Engineer FYI

what are your thoughts?

thanks!

Please focus on getting in and enjoy wherever you go. Rice is not the one and only school. You can go to UH and then transfer, stay and UH or you can go to TAMU or UT and have a good education as well.

Point being, try to get in and see what happens. There are too many if’s in your scenario. After decision time next year, rethink this.

I agree with Antarius. It’s not a good idea to pick one school with the idea of transferring into another school. You should simply apply to a list of colleges that interest you, and that will hopefully be interested in you, including the usual safeties, matches, and reaches that just about everybody includes, and hope for the best. If you only put schools on your list that are appealing to you, in and of themselves (regardless of whether or not you can transfer away from them), you will maximize your happiness in college. One step at a time. Worry about transferring if and when the time comes. But apply for “happiness” now! :)

Thanks, this really helped me let go of some of this stress and just go with the flow. I’ll make a decision when I get to that road.

Great. Consider it down the road if you want (especially if you are unhappy with the place you are at) but take it as it goes. You may really like the place you end up, be it Rice or not.
