Berkeley isn’t right for me I want to go to UW. This thread isn’t about why, but rather, what my chances are.
I have a 3.1 GPA (out of 4.0) at UC Berkeley, studying CS, and I applied to UW CS. I am a 3rd year at Berkeley (i.e. Junior) and I have several internships and activities under my belt. What are my chances?
why are you transferring so late?
First of all, thanks for the reply. It’s finally all caught up to me and it just isn’t working. But, please, let’s get back to the main question: what are my chances?
I’m not 100% sure what the chances are for transfers with your GPA, but I heard that the acceptance rate is really low for transfers from another 4 year university. UW tends to like transfers from community colleges in Washington.
This is a great point, thanks for telling me. My GPA isn’t that strong, but is above Cal’s average CS GPA (which is about 2.3). Thanks for the reply.
Honestly, ik the CS major at UW is SUUUUPER hard to get into so i dunno what your chances are. Your GPA is pretty avg to my knowledge but i think ur activities might push u over good luck!
Thanks for the help!!! I have some decent activities. I assumed it would be easier to enter than it is at Berkeley when I applied but I could certainly be wrong about that. We’ll see!
It’s so hard to transfer because of a school’s culture. If you still have time, I’d focus on majors and classes and opportunities you can get at the new school that you can’t get at UCB (which is a tough argument to make)
