Transfer from UC Davis to UCSD?

Hey,

Would it be possible to transfer from UC Davis to UCSD after 1 semester as an undergraduate freshman at UC Davis?

Noooooooooope.

Plus, there are quarters. Not semesters.

assuming you have A LOT of AP credit and everything planned out perfectly and take a load of summer courses, you’d apply in november to transfer next fall(beginning of second year)
don’t plan on it.

I can say it is nearly impossible in 1 semester but I can ensure it is possible in 2 year. two of my frds in davis successfully transfer to UCSD. They said UCSD was pretty easy to get in becux they took ton of classes and had final during the UC application so they barely have time wrote their essay before the deadline of application but they still get in with a GPA 3.7

Thanks for the info guys

xelink, I got 5’s in the 3 ap’s I took- english language, psych, chemistry
I’m taking 3 more in may- calculus, physics, music theory
But xelink, do you think that if I take summer courses at PCC or ucsd or wherever AND work vigorously freshman year

Would it be possible to xfer to ucsd then? Or am I better off just waiting 2 years

hey roughlanding, just out of curiosity why do you want to transfer out of UCD? I’m thinking about going there, any advice?

i dont think op has actually gone to davis and is expecting the worst. watch once he goes hes not gonna want to leave

I haven’t been able to visit the campus yet, but I hear really nice things about UCD! So, I hope I’m not gonna want to leave too!

i havent gone slowmotion, your right but im not expecting the worse. I just REALLLLYYYYYY want to go to ucsd (for a long list of personal reasons).

sophie24, i dont mean you discourage you at all, its just that I have lots of reasons for wanting to go to ucsd. these reasons are pretty much personal so im sure they dont apply to you, so youve got nothing to worry about wherever it is that you choose to go

I hope you get into UCSD! =)

^ i second that

it IS possible to transfer after only a single year but you’d need to work your bum off. FYI UC to UC transfers aren’t at THAT much of a disadvantage over CC to UC transfers. That said, CC to UC transferring IS easier, it’s cheaper and if you put yourself into it, research the right prof’s etc. you’ll get a better education(20-40:1 teacher: student ratio vs. 200:1 grad student:student ratio) for almost free. Presently, most people with over a 3.0 GPA and all their prereqs and IGETC get in from a CC. To top it off, if you’re not going to grad school, you can average your CC and UC GPA(say 70 units at a CC and 60 from a UC) together for job applications which is nice.

I would recommend enrolling in one or two community college classes this summer that transfer, this will help you a lot.

That should put you up a leg for getting to UCSD early.
