Transfer from UC to State School?

I am going into my 2nd year at UCSD (I transferred here from a CC last year via IGETC) and I am starting to realize I really do not like the school and the way they go about teaching things. I am interested in transferring to a state school (more specifically CSU San Marcos). Does anyone know if this can be done in this day and age with all the budget cuts?

so you spent 2 years at CC and 2 years at UCSD already? You might have too many units to be transferring. But trying doesn’t hurt.

I would say I probably have around 110 semester units total from CC and UCSD.

From what I have read on this board transferring from a CSU to a UC is nearly impossible. The converse may or may not be true. There have probably not been many cases of someone trying to go from a UC to a CSU.

UC to CSU is not difficult at all and credit is not even that big of an issue.
You can take a look at assist.org to see any of your upper division courses transfer over to your particular choice of campus.

I also went to a community college, took every single prerequisite listed on assist.org for EE and got IGETC certified and then transferred to UCD. Then I realised that I do not like the UC’s way of teaching because everything was based on theory and nothing hands-on like a lab requirement. For that reason, I will be attending Cal Poly SLO this fall for EE. I have also applied to SJSU and SDSU and was accepted to both of them. I had about 138 semester units when I applied last November (combination of both CC and UC units). Even with the budget crisis, they are still very willing to take people in who are fully prepared as in completing the prerequisites and meeting the threshold GPA for that particular major, so you can get in and get out quickly. So yeah, it’s very highly doable.
