Transfer from UC to UC? Please Help!!

Hi. Im an IB student and i have worked to get into a good school. I recently applied to a lot of UCs and got into some. I SIR'd to UCRiverside, but now im not so sure about going, I want to transfer to UC Davis for sophomore year. i heard that it is hard and very stressful to transfer. but im positive that i want to transfer and i was wondering if anyone ever transferred from UCR to UCD before? how did it go? Im looking to other transfer/college students for help on this. PLEASE HELP ME OUT!

Have you even bothered reading the page at Davis about transfer admission? No, you haven’t, because if you did then you’d know they only accept transfers that are going to be juniors when they enter.

FYI I have read that and i know that it is for junior year, i dont need the attitude, thanx. i was just asking. im looking for advice and if you dont have any then dont post anything to me, okay?

You CAN transfer in your sophomore year, but with junior standing. So I hope you have a lot of AP/IB credits that will help you be able to do that.

okay, thank you. but when you say ‘with a junior standing’, does that refer to my IB credits?

Is your major impacted at UCD? If it is not you definitely have a chance. If it is an impacted major it will be a lot harder because transfers from California Community Colleges will have priority over you.

I’d say it’s pretty hard to transfer after 1 year at UCR. You have a slim chance. It’s easier to go from CC to UCD if that’s where you want to go. I used to go to UCR and decided that it was not for me.

To Lemaitre1: no i dont believe my major is impacted at all. Thank you for the tip.(English)
To roxystar1244: what was it about the school that you did not like?

@mikemac: kinda rude, and also wrong. UCD does accept lower division transfer students only to the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
Read under “Transfer Priority from Community College vs. another UC Campus or a Four-Year College.” It does seem extremely difficult, but not an impossible task. I would suggest attending a CC to save money, figure out what you really want to major in, and what college you really want to attend. I went to a 4-year right out of college and I wish I would have just attended a CC. I’m a CSU -> CC -> UCD transfer and I have to say attending a CC this year is the best decision I’ve ever made. Good luck with whatever you choose to do :)

right out of *high school, not college :P

Thanks so much.

That is great to hear. i was wondering if you have too attend a CC for two years or just until you complete your general Education?

@ dreamsearcher: you have to complete 60 transferable units at a CC in order to transfer to a UC with junior standing. In order to transfer with sophomore standing, you must have at least 30 units completed.
