…just go to Berkeley (or Princeton or Stanford or MIT) for grad school if you want to go so badly… it’ll be a lot easier. Stanford admits like 20 transfer students (so you’re chances are next to zero for transferring), i don’t know about the others but I’m sure they’re similar (Cal admits a lot more transfers though).

thxx nodnarb. i actually wanted to go to uk for grad school. so this is probably the last chance to go to BPMS. thx for the reply tho.

others, plzz answer.

Just go to UCLA and get a great education and have a great time. The private elite schools rarely accept transfers. I know Harvard does not. Stanford and the others you mention may accept 10-20 so count out that option. You might be able to transfer to Berk after 2 years but there are no guarantees. As far as want your parents want…this is your life and your 4 years of college. You will get a great education and if you do well you can go to the grad school of your choice. I really hate all these parents who get so hung up on a particular school for their son or daughter. It is YOUR decision! UCLA and Berk. are so similar and if you know you want to go to grad school, doing well will be more important than where you went. BTW, I am a parent and have a daughter who just finished her first year at UCLA. She loved it. She would not apply to many of the schools I suggested and I let her make her own decisions. What schools were you actaully admitted to? I would stop bumping your thread up, you have already received many answers to your questions. Go to the best school you were admitted to, do well and see if you want to transfer after 2 years there. Or just do well and get your pick of grad schools. Good luck to you!

Meant to answer a few questions…for tranferring they will not look at your high school grades. It is just important to do really well your first 2 years of college. Most people transfer after 2 years, not one year.

The UC’s do not interview. The schools that would interview really don’t accept transfers.

As a transfer student I would think you could get involved in clubs/activities/leadership if you really wanted to. It’s more about desire and commitment. If you want to do those things, you can make it happen. I think you have a better chance of really getting into things if you are at the same school for 4 years.

Once again, I will say that you should go to the best school you were admitted to (UCLA?), get a great education, be involved, do really well, than go to the grad school of your dreams. Why waste energy thinking about transferring when you haven’t even started yet? You may love the school you go to and have no desire to transfer. And please don’t do something just because your parents wnat you to. It’s your life!!!
