I will be attending UC Santa Cruz as a freshman in 2012-2013. My major there is Business Managerial Economics. I'm want to major in either Business Administration or Finance which UCSC doesn't have, so I would like to try and transfer into UCI, UCB, USC, or USD (U of San Diego) after a year or two at UCSC. I' d rather transfer out to one of those school's after my first year at UCSC.

Is it impossible to transfer from UC to UC?
How hard is to transfer from a UC to a private in-state or out-of-state university such as USC, USD, Carnegie Mellon, or University of Notre Dame?
Also, how good is the business program at UCSC?

Thanks.

Its will be pretty easy to transfer, but schools only accept junior transfers, but to better prepare you to transfer, you really need to keep up with your grades and do well.

make sure to take all the prereqs

For the UC schools you have to be a junior to xfer. For the privates, you’ll need to check. If you go to the UC Statfinder you can run tables. It looks like in 2009 (most recent data) that accepted UC xfers had an average GPA of 3.71 and the average admit for Business, Management, Marketing had a 3.86 which is not what I’d call easy to get.

It is POSSIBLE to transfer after a year. RARE, but nonetheless possible.

If you want to transfer after a year look into USC. You’d have a higher chance of transferring after a year at UCSC to USC but decision will revive mostly on your HS stats.
