I am now a chemE sophomore in UIUC. Since I am looking for a smaller size learning environment, I decided to transfer to Northeastern. Below are my current academic stats.

SAT(CR/MATH/CW): 410/680/550
SAT II(CHEM/MATH):720/800
ACT(English/math/reading/science/writing):21/35/12/22/20 Composition:23

AP: Math BC:5
Chinese:5
Physics C:3
Biology: 3
Current college GPA: 3.87

Northeastern or Northwestern? You have one in the title and the other in your text. Given that you are at UIUC, I will assume Northwestern.

You will have to call the admission office and ask them whether they consider the SAT/ACT scores for transfer students. Frankly they seem low for Northwestern. You could probably get into my university (Illinois Tech) with the MATH ACT score and the GPA you have at UIUC but only Northwestern admissions can give you a definitive answer.

You say that you are looking for a smaller school, Northwestern is still pretty big but the Engineering school is smaller than UIUC, of course.

I’d say your SATs do not matter a lot since you are already a sophomore. You’d better state some really good reason since UIUC is a great school especially in your field of study.

The Northwestern site states that the admission rate for transfer students is around 15%. Your GPA is sufficient to be considered. You might wish to contact their admission office to get more guidance.

Old scores matter less than what you’ve done now, so adezar is incorrect. Those scores may hurt a bit, but scores are vastly less important after Freshman admissions.

Hey I transfered from UIUC to NU. I transfered as a sophomore so I don’t know how different your junior transfer would be, but your GPA is about on-point with where you’d need to be (especially with engineering, tbh) so that’s your strong point. I would call and ask the admissions department regarding your SAT/ACT, but since you are a junior I would imagine they would weigh your GPA heavier and you could get by without retaking the SAT or ACT.
