Transfer from UK to Stanford/Harvard

Any experiences please help?

What do you want to know? Both of these colleges admit very few transfers, they’re places you apply to as part of a list of more realistic choices. If you apply exclusively to S & H, then you should be happy to stay at your current school in the likelihood that you aren’t admitted to either.

I’ll be Transfering from a Top 25 College in the UK.

My GPA is around 3.6-3.7 across my Academic Career,

 • I’ve had a year at one of the largest corporations in the world
 • Also a National Award in the subject I wish to be majoring in - for work in my native country, and with inner city kids
 • And I’ve also worked with the equivalent of a Senator here in the UK.

Hence I will be going in 1 year older than most of the other Transfer students, and I’ve had a few External Circumstances which hindered my GPA from being 4.0 - do I have to mention this to the Counselor’s at my Schools?

I don’t think I have any legacy at either of these schools or any one I know who has gone.

One person from one of my previous schools went to Harvard.

QUESTIONS (thank you very much in advance for any answers):

I understand essays are important but HOW important is my SAT Result, what type of score do I have to get and HOW long will it take for me to prepare, if I have taken tough subjects through my academic career

Go ask him/her.

^^ I see okay, but it was I went to school with him age 11-13 then moved, so it is several years ago now.

If you can provide any other advice, anything would be great.

Thank you all in advance.

You can always try, but the odds are definitely not in your favor. A top 25 UK school means very little in US unless it is Oxbridge, and occiationally Imperial and LSE.

Standardized tests are less important for jr than for soph transfers, however, since these are two of the most selective colleges in the country, everything counts.

There are no SAT limits as test scores are taken in context with the rest of your application. In general, 2100 is baseline, 2250+ better. It’s impossible to say how long it will take you to prep, see the test prep forums here on CC.
