Transfer from UMich to NYU

Am I qualified?

I was born and raised in NY but decided to attend the University of Michigan, College of Literature, Arts, and Sciences as an Honors student this fall. I am looking to transfer for Fall 2012 to NYU College of Arts and Sciences. At the end of junior year of high school I had a 3.86 UW GPA, a 2100 SAT, 770 BIO SAT II, 5 AP BIO, 4 AP EURO, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Varsity Track and Field, Varsity Volleyball. I had 70+ volunteering hours, 2 summer engineering internships, 1 blog writing internship. Currently I am a paid blog writer at a different website. After senior year of high school my UW GPA fell to 3.80 due to senioritis. Only respectable AP score was 3 for AP GOV. Currently taking 14 credit hours at UMich as an Honors student. I will be participating in at least 2 student organized clubs. Provided my essays and instructor evaluations are solid, what are my chances at transferring from UMich to NYU?

Am I qualified??!

You should visit NYU’s transfer page. NYU will weight your college GPA and recommendation letters from professors more heavily than your high school grades. If your grades are good, it shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Why do you want to transfer?

I would like to live in NYC…what a campus! Personal reasons as well.

I’m in a similar boat, having grown up in NYC but attended high school in Miami. I ended up at Umiami after my rejection from NYU, but it hasn’t been a good fit, so I’m looking to go back home to NYU. I’ve been doing really well so far, so hopefully things work out. Good luck to you.
