Transfer from UNC- Chapel Hill

I just finished my first semester at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and I'm considering transferring to UF.
Is it possible to transfer for the spring semester? If not, when is the deadline for transfers for Fall 2009? Any tips for transfers? What should I be doing before the online application goes up? When does the online application become available? What are the chances for transfers to get in?

You can't transfer until you have 60 credits.

I already have 60 credits.

DANNY!!!!! Y r u leaving UNC...yea u can apply for the Spring but i think its tool late I just got into UF for spring

And if u get in for the spring they only offer the pell grant and loans (n u can still use ur bright futures)

Remember me im the one who wanted to go to UNC.went to SAS.im deciding between UNC and UF rite now

and since u were so helpful with me with my ? feel free to ask me anything

and to answer your other question...make sure you have all the pre reqs for your major since u have ur 60 credits...apply as early as possible. thats pretty much all i did and i got accepted

Gator2008,
Congrats on getting in! I bet you applied before September 15.
I'm definitely applying to UF for numerous reasons: I just felt out of place at UNC, too expensive(yes, even after my scholarships, my parents were giving me a hard time about how much they have to help out, which was less than 6k), and basically it's kind of challenging for an out of state student to assimilate.
Since I'm late for Spring semester's deadline, do you think I should apply for Summer A/C or Fall?
I ask because both have different deadlines.
You are currently studying/have studied at FIU, am I right?
What did you have to do, as a transfer applicant?

Just came by this article. I thought it was interesting since you guys are discussing UF vs UNC. Money was defiantly an issue when I decided to go to UF over the other top schools I was accepted to. Good luck with the transfer process.

Well, it most certainly depends on your residency. If your a resident of North Carolina, your best choice is UNC. If your a resident of Florida, then UF will be your best bet. Keep in mind that Kiplinger's article discusses about the school's in-state tuition that will give you more bang for your buck. ASMAJ, did you apply to UNC or other schools mentioned in the list?

Yea I'm at fiu currently...I think if u got in at unc then u have a good chance at uf

Basically all I did was fill out the application (which had no essay) sent n my 30 for the appl fee and that was it..if money is n issue I say wait to apply til fall if it isn't n issue then if u still can apply for the summer

I called and they told me to apply for fall 2009 instead of summer a/c because a lot more transfers apply for the fall. Which college did you apply in UF?

College of Liberal Arts and Science.....i think thats the school your applying to as a history major...I hope you get in and everything works out for you

i probably said this already

but apply as soon as possible (and pay too).

And make sure to start getting ur transcripts in order I dont know if its diff for you since u went to kendall..but for me i called ms. posada (if u need the number pm me) to have them sent electronically)

Get ur mdc transcripts

and of course ur UNC transcipts

o and fyi i applied for fall08 got rejected cause i didnt have one pre req but then reapplied and put on the application i was gonna take the class i needed and then got in for the spring.....SO i cannot stress enough to make sure u have fulfilled all the pre req requirements

Okay, I see.
You're talking about your major's pre-reqs, right?

yep....referrin to my major pre reqs
