transfer GPA question

Ok so I go to a university in Canada and am hoping to transfer into columbia as a sophmore (currently a freshman). I know GPA is obviously the first in a long list of factors that are considered for admission. But my university has a weird system of grading...

Below 50 = fail
51 -64 = C
65 - 79 = B
80 - 100 = A

Because of the low fail rate (I believe in many US universities it is around 65), grades overall are deflated, and course averages, for the most part, tend to be around the 69-71 area for first year classes. Can anyone pleae give me some insight into this matter and Columbia's possible GPA recalculation?

Thanks SO much

bumpp

help anyone??

Call the admissions office and ask to speak to the person in charge of evaluating international applications. You might be able to find his/her name on the admissions web site.

I transferred in from a Canadian university though our GPA system was the exact 4.3 system as Columbia's. I don't think that the grading matters truth be told. I think the bottomline for them is the numerical GPA...which in your case seems to be easier given the wide range for As.
